Save the Sharks, Save the World

Female-tiger-shark swimming with divers

I just saw the movie Sharkwater today. It is immensely inspiring and heartwrenching. I cannot even explain how I feel when any other living thing inflicts unnecessary pain on another.
Humans are the worst of all, feeding our nonsense beliefs and power stroking our egos into thinking we have the greatest rights above all others, and even then, above each other in our own species. It is not only sickening, it is foolish.
What we dont realize as we let each day slip through our fingers, as we ravenously hunt down consumables, as we focus so intently on owning the perfect hourglass; is that we’re tossing the sand to the side. The sand that is our morals, the basis of our foundation, what we mix with the mortor of emotions to build our legacies. Our integrity, our substance, what our children will respect us for….or at the rate we are destroying everything we touch, most likely hate us for.
Sharks are the Keepers of Balance of the Deep. They are ancient guides who by their very nature help our world to evolve. They cause other animals to adapt and become more efficient in their survival and they keep the numbers in balance.
Since the Shark fin trade has become such a money maker for some, these wonderfully misunderstood creatures are being hacked alive and dumped back into the oceans to settle to the bottom of the deep, turning their homes into their graves. Doesn’t make it very appealling to go swimming on a tropical vacation, but then neither does swimming amongst the millions of jellyfish that are now popping up everywhere. Everything in life needs balance.
It is so sad when we destroy things simply because we don’t understand. Our ignorance is killing all of us. So if that miniscule number of people who actually do get bit by sharks (less than car accidents or MUCH less than the starvation we impose on our fellow humans) have anything to say. My reply is, “Karma’s a Bitch”

Check out Sharkwater and learn more about whats happening to these amazing creatures today!
